Be there! 13 juni 2024 2nd Ability Tech Symposium (Dutch spoken event)

Op donderdag 13 juni 2024 vindt het 2e Ability Tech Symposium plaats in het Designlab van Universiteit Twente We laten daar ons werk en dat van anderen zien. In het afgelopen jaar hebben we ons werkveld verbreed naar hulpmiddelen voor doelgroepen als dove en slechthorende kinderen en mensen met ALS. Ook is de oog/joystick/ipad-bestuurbare sjoelbak inmiddels zover ontwikkeld, dat we die na de zomer laten uittesten in verschillende woongroepen.Een vraag op het symposium is hoe we onze prototypes met slimme kleinschalige productie kopieerbaar kunnen maken voor mensen die ze nodig hebben. En bieden we gelegenheid om de toegankelijkheid van het Designlab in de praktijk te testen.

Our video explains our mission – Citizen Science

We made this mini-documentary to explain our philosophy and mission-statement. Our main goal is to improve the lives of those who have to live with (multiple) disabilities but we also want to narrow the gap between the academic world and the rest of our society. We call this Citizen Science. The video Is Dutch-spoken and contains English subtitles.

RTVOost News about Ability Tech

Public broadcaster and news orginazation RTVOost published a news item about our citizen science project called Ability Tech. They used parts of our own promotion video to illustrate the capabilities of our self-driving wheelchair. Edwin Dertien and Arie Fokkink were interviewed bij the RTVOost journalist Harro Brouwer. Our story on “Kracht van Enschede”

“Kracht van Enschede” literally means “Power of Enschede” This initiative supports and boosts the, sometimes hidden hopes and dreams and creative talent within our city. “Kracht van Enschede” encourages citizens to open up about their ideas and helps in finding ways to realize their project by working together with companies and schools and/or to get projects funded. Our citizen science project Ability Tech was given monetary assistance by the “Wederopbloei” fund provided by the Enschede municipality. This film was made by Kracht van Enschede.
